4.6 Cutting Operation
Do not allow children or animals to enter the working range of the trimmer/
brush cutter within 50 ft (15 m).
The
trimmer/brush cutter
must only be started and operated by one person.
* Operation by more than one person increases the likelihood of mishandling and
resulting injury.
Pay attention to blade thrust.
* Blade thrust may occur when the spinning blade contacts an object that it does not
immediately cut.
* Blade thrust can be violent enough to cause the unit and/or operator to be propelled in
any direction, and possibly lose control of the unit.
* Blade thrust can occur without warning if the blade snags, stalls or binds.
* Blade thrust is more likely to occur in areas where it is difficult to see the material being
cut.
When using multiple trimmer/brush cutters at the same time, each operator must be at least within 50 ft
(15 m) away from the others.
The following shows examples of use of the trimmer/brush cutter.
In the illustration, the grass cutting steel blade (option) is installed.
■ Holding Method of Trimmer/Brush
Cutter
●
Always hold the trimmer/brush cutter with both hands
during operation.
To prevent injury due to inappropriate operation, always
support the trimmer/brush cutter steady during operation
by holding as follows.
Right hand: Control grip.
Left hand: Loop handle.
(This also applies to left-handers.)
●
Always keep the machine away from your body.
●
Do not over-reach during the operation. Your arm gets
tired, losing control.
●
Place your feet shoulder-width or wider apart.
