Protocol Selection
screen displays.
Use the
and
keys to select the desired protocol:

J1708/J1587 BUS
configures Brake-Link™ to communicate with the ECU
via the J1708 Bus (accessed through the standard Deutsch connection).
—
PLC/ENHANCED MODE
configures Brake-Link™ to communicate with
the ECU via the Power Line Carrier (accessed through the Deutsch or
J560 trailer power line connectors). This options is only available for ECUs
that support this mode, i.e., Meritor WABCO Enhanced Easy-Stop™
controllers.

Brake-Link™ auto-detects the Meritor WABCO Trailer ABS ECU. It pre-
sents the ECU sensor/modulator configuration and indicates whether
there are existing and/or stored faults.

Easy-Stop™ (TCS II) controller.

• the ECU or Data Bus is not working properly.
If you selected
PLC/ENHANCED MODE
protocol and it displays
ECU NOT RESPONDING

• the brake ECU is not equipped with Enhanced PLC Mode.
