Hazards connected with ejected parts
Damage to the workpiece, accessories or even to the inserted tool can result in
parts being ejected at high speeds. Always use impact-resistant eye protection.
The degree of protection must be selected according to the works carried out.
Make sure that the workpiece is securely clamped. Make sure that the disc is
securely attached to the cut off tool . Check whether the maximum speed of the
cutting disc, expressed in RPM, is equal to or higher than the rated speed of the
spindle. Make sure that the cutting disc guard is in place, in good condition and
properly mounted. Make sure that the cutting disc guard is checked regularly.
Regularly check whether the speed of the cut off tool is not higher than its rated
speed. The test should be carried out without the mounted cutting disc and in
accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. Check whether the cutting disc
fixing flanges specified by the manufacturer have been used and are in good
condition, e.g. free from cracks, burrs and flat. Check whether the spindle and
the spindle thread are not damaged or worn. Make sure that sparks and waste
generated during operation are not hazardous. Disconnect the air tool from the
power source before replacing or repairing the cutting disc .
Hazards connected with entanglement
The Hazards connected with entanglement may cause choking, scalping and/or
cutting if loose clothing, jewellery, necklaces, hair or gloves are not kept away
from the tool or accessories.
Hazards connected with work
Avoid contact with the rotating spindle and the mounted cutting disc to prevent
cutting of hands and other body parts. Using the tool can expose the operator
’
s
hands to hazards such as crushing, impact, cutting, abrasion and heat.
Wear suitable gloves to protect your hands. The operator and the maintenance
personnel should be physically able to cope with the quantity, weight and power
of the tool. Hold the tool correctly. Be prepared to withstand normal or
unexpected movements and always keep both hands at the ready. Keep your
feet in balance and in a safe position. The pressure on the start and stop device
should be released in the event of a power failure. Use only the lubricants
recommended by the manufacturer. Protective goggles must be worn, and we
recommend wearing suitable gloves and protective clothing.
