System power not on.

a straightened paper clip into the
emergency eject hole, then gently press
inward until the tray opens.
Cannot access CD-ROM
reader.
1. Check that the CD-ROM driver
software is loaded and not corrupted.
2. Check signal and power connections
between the reader, system board, and
power supply.
3. Check the master/slave jumper
settings (see Appendix B).
4. Check the IDE cable. Replace as
necessary.
5. Check the power supply. Replace as
necessary.
6. Check the system board. Replace as
necessary.
7. Check the system or sound board.
Replace as necessary
No sound from CDs.
1. Check that speaker power is on and
volume is adjusted.
2. Check audio software settings.
3. Check the CD disc.
4. Check the CD-ROM drive audio cable
connections.

cable. Replace as necessary.
6. Replace the CD-ROM reader.
