12 RJ cable grommet and protective label installation.
The SensorMATe capacitive sensing cable has a rubber grommet with double sided
self- adhesive applied. When correctly installed this prevents connected sensing mats
from being inadvertently removed from their respective sockets and provides a seal to
prevent moisture or dust ingress. The unit is also provided with a self-adhesive
protective label which should be used to blank off the unused socket accordingly.
This action:
•
Alleviates the possibility of sensing mats being removed and subsequently
inserted into the wrong RJ connector by a service user or relative etc. This
prevents the mat from being plugged into a socket which may be disabled or not
programmed for the type of sensor connected.
•
Prevent ingress of foreign materials into the connectors.
•
Provides strain relief for the cables and RJ connectors.
•
Increases protection of the inputs from potential sources of electrostatic
discharge.
To correctly insert the RJ plugs and cable grommets follow the procedure as below:
1. Plug the sensing cable RJ plug into the relevant input socket.
2. Remove the double sided adhesive plastic cover from the grommet.
3. Slide the grommet down the cable ensuring that the grommet fully covers the
input socket connector area.
4. Cover any unused input ports with the blanking label or bung provided.
