Chapter 6: Commands
September 1997
111
The distance from the feed rolls to the trailing edge sensor is about 0.5 inches so you can
print and feed about three lines after the trailing edge sensor becomes uncovered. The
minimum bottom margin is about 0.6 inches. To print at the bottom margin, send the Print
and Feed n Lines command (1B 64 n) with n = 0 so the paper doesn’t feed forward out of
the feed rolls.
Second Method
This method moves some control to the printer, freeing the application from having to
watch for the sensors to be uncovered.
1. At initialization, send the Set Slip Waiting Time command (1B 66 m n) with m = 02 and
n = 05.
02 and 05 are sample times (02 = 2 minute waiting time; 05 = .5 seconds to close the
platen).
You only need to set the waiting times once, unless they change between slip
transactions.
2. Send the Select Slip Station command (1B 63 30 n) with n = 04 for the slip station.
Step 1 will finish when the slip has been inserted.
3. Send the Transmit Printer Status command (1B 76) once.
The response will indicate that both slip sensors are covered or that two minutes have
bone by without a slip being inserted. You can stop the transaction before the two
minutes are up by using the Real Time commands. See “Real Time Commands” earlier
in this chapter for more information.
Printing
After printing is complete, there are several ways to finish the slip transaction:
•
Send the Open Form command (18) to open the platen.
However, if the slip has been printed close to the bottom margin, the application needs
to reverse feed the paper out first. I fonly the top of the slip has been printed, this is
perhaps the quickest way to finish the transaction.
•
Send the Print and Eject Slip command (0C) to automatically feed the slip out a
sufficient distance for it to be retrieved, then send the Open Form command (18) to
open the platen.
•
Send the Select Receipt Station command (1B 63 30 n) with n = 01 for the receipt
station.
This automatically ejects the slip and selects the receipt for printing.
