Echo-Screen III Pro Instructions for Use
Charge the batteries:
•
With the primary battery in the device, seat the device into the docking station or plug
the AC adapter into the device and a power outlet.
•
Insert the spare battery into the spare battery compartment of the docking station.
•
Batteries do not need to be fully discharged prior to recharging.
•
The LED battery status light on the front of the device indicates the charging status for
the primary battery.
WARNING
Always charge batteries outside the patient environment (at least 4.6 m (15 ft.) from
the patient).
Keep out of the reach of children.
Keep the battery away from flammable environments. Incorrect handling can over-
charge or destroy the battery.
Use only the Natus-supplied docking station or the Natus-supplied power supply
connected directly to the device to charge the battery. Battery chargers not
approved by Natus may not meet electrical and safety standards. Use of other char-
gers may cause damage to the device and Natus is not liable for damages caused
by their use.
Only charge the battery in the Natus Echo-Screen III screener or in the Natus
Echo-Screen III docking station. Failure to heed the warning may result in fire,
explosion, leakage, overheating or damage to the battery.
Do not change or install the battery when the screener or docking station are wet
with alcohol. Failure to heed the warning may result in fire, explosion, leakage, over-
heating or damage to the battery.
Do not charge the battery near a source of heat or under direct sunlight. Failure to
heed the warning may result in fire, explosion, leakage, overheating or damage to
the battery.
Do not expose the battery to fire or to temperatures greater than 60ºC (140ºF), for
example in a parked car in direct sunlight. Doing so can melt the insulating materials
and/or damage the safety mechanism.
Do not place the battery in contact with metal objects.
Do not connect the battery directly to a power outlet. Failure to heed the warning
may result in fire, explosion, leakage, overheating or damage to the battery.
Do not disassemble or modify the battery. Failure to heed the warning may result in
fire, explosion, leakage, overheating or damage to the battery.
Avoid dropping or puncturing the battery, or subjecting it to a sharp force. Failure to
heed the warning may result in fire, explosion, leakage, overheating or damage to
the battery.
WARNING
Never submerge the battery in water or other liquid. Failure to heed the warning may
result in fire, explosion, leakage, overheating or damage to the battery.
Do not use the battery if you notice discolorations, deformities, warm to hot tempera-
ture or odors coming from the battery. Failure to heed the warning may result in fire,
explosion, leakage, overheating or damage to the battery.
Do not use this battery with any other equipment. This battery is only to be used with
the Natus Echo-Screen III screener and docking station. Failure to heed the warning
may result in fire, explosion, leakage, overheating or damage to the battery.
CAUTION
If the Echo-Screen III screener and docking station will not be used for a long period
of time, unplug the AC power cord from the outlet and remove the batteries from the
screener and docking station.
Do not open, alter, or dismantle the battery.
The battery terminals must not be short-circuited under any circumstances.
Store the battery in a discharged state if device will not be used for an extended
period of time to prolong battery life. If the battery life is markedly short the battery
life may have expired. Replace the battery with a new battery
