How can I name National Instruments serial ports COM1, COM2,
COM3, or COM4?
(Windows 2000)
Complete the following steps:
1.
Right-click
My Computer
and select
Properties
. Under the
Hardware
tab, select
Device Manager
.
2.
Verify that no local ports are already assigned to the COM number(s)
you want to use. If they are, use the following procedure to reassign
these ports:
a.
Right-click the local COM port you want to reassign from the list
of installed serial ports.
b.
From the
Port settings
tab, click
Advanced...
.
c.
Change the COM port number to a new value.
3.
After you reassign all local ports, close the Device Manager.
4.
Select
Start»Settings»Control Panel»NI Ports
.
5.
Select the NI-Serial port you want to rename.
6.
Click
Settings
.
7.
Change the COM port number to a new value.
(Windows NT)
Complete the following steps:

Start»Settings»Control Panel»Ports

2.
