USING CALLER ID (CLI)
If you plan to use CallerID (CLI) on your telephone line, then you will need
to set Dip Switch 3 to the ON position.
See page 17 for details of Dip Switch settings.
This is because
FaxSwitch 2
, in its default configuration, does NOT
ALLOW the first ring of an incoming call to pass through to the telephones
connected to the TELEPHONE LINE OUT port. It does this whether FAX
SWITCH 2 is set to operate in the Voice Priority or Traditional Faxswitch
modes.
When CallerID (CLI) is connected to a telephone line, the caller’s phone
number (unless the caller elects not to send this information) is sent as a
modem type transmission of information before the first full telephone ring
of incoming telephone calls.
In the default configuration of
FaxSwitch 2
, this information would not
be received by the CLI reading device.
When Dip Switch 3 is set to the ON position,
FaxSwitch 2
will pass
incoming calls immediately to the telephones connected to the
TELEPHONE LINE OUT port so that they can display the CLI information.
The only difference you will experience with this switch change is that the
telephones connected direct to the PHONE DEVICE PORT will ring
ONCE before stopping, when Fax calls are received.
For this reason, it is best to leave Dip Switch 3 set to the OFF position
unless CallerID (CLI) is used.
If SW3 is set to ON - CallerID (CLI) is used on this line.
If SW3 is set to OFF - CallerID (CLI) is NOT used on this line.
