Signal Monitor

 – This is an abbreviated test for signal loss and frame to frame difference

in an HDMI distribution system. This can be used to diagnose intermittent issues in a

system caused by defective sink, source or repeater and their handling of HDMI and

HDCP handshake and key exchange. This can also be used to identify external devices

causing interruption to the signal – ex. EMI (Electro-Magnetic Interference) from an

HVAC transformer in a commercial facility the “interferes” with the HDMI distribution

system and cause loss of HPD or 5V. The Signal Monitor, when placed in the system will

record the exact minute or second when the error occurred. The Signal Monitor can
record information for up to a year (361 days and 6 hours), collecting actionable

information for diagnosing component or external problems in the system.
