Duplexing: Manual.
Energy-save mode: Reduces energy consumption after 30
minutes of non-use (user-settable from 1 to 120 minutes
in one-minute intervals, or off).
Exposure controls: Manual (adjustable over a range of five
settings from light to dark and text, photo and text/photo
modes).
Fax features: Standard. 14.4-Kbps modem speed; MH/MR/
MMR compression; 55 one-touch keys, 145 speed-dial
locations; broadcasting to up to 32 groups, with a total of
230 destinations; confidential transmission and reception,
batch transmission, transfer hub capability, 72-hour battery
backup, 100 department codes, error-correction mode,
remote diagnostics and image smoothing.
Image manipulation features: Negative/positive reversal.
Insertion features: None.
Interface: Tested with the optional bidirectional Centronics
parallel port (1284) and optional Ethernet 10/100BaseT
interface.
Job management features: None.
Languages: English.
Memory: Tested with the standard 16 MB of memory, 8 MB
of which is standard for faxing (holds 1,130 pages at 6%
page coverage, according to Muratec); upgradable to 16
MB. 8-MB standard memory for printing, upgradable to
144 MB with standard DIMM memory.
Client operating system support: Microsoft Windows 3.x,
95, 98, 2000 and NT 4.0.
Network operating system support: Novell NetWare ver-
sions 3.x or 4.x; Macintosh System 7; UNIX, Windows or
LAN Server systems supporting LPR over TCP/IP; DEC
ULTRIX 4.3 or 4.4, DEC OSF/1 2.0 or 3.0, Solaris 1.1.3
or 2.3, (SUN OS 4.1.3 or 5.3), System V Release 4, HP-
UX 9.01, IBM AIX 3.2.5, or SCO UNIX 2 for DPI TCP/IP

Output device: Receiving paper tray.
Printer features: Optional 12-ppm PCL 5e and PCL 6
network printing at 600 dpi via a 10/100BaseT Ethernet
interface card.
Reduction/enlargement features: Variable reduction/
enlargement from 50% to 200% in 1% increments. Preset
reduction modes of 50%, 64% and 78% and preset
enlargement modes of 129% and 200%.
Resolution (maximum): 300-dpi scanning, 300-dpi copying
and 600-dpi printing; 406-x-392-lpi (Superfine) faxing.
User programs: Default settings can be changed by the user
via the control panel. See “Feedback to PC workstations.”
Other features: Scan-once/print-many capability; standard
electronic sorting.
Control Panel
Type: Hard keys and a two-line, 20-character LCD text
display.
Help key: No.
Indicators/prompts: In addition to an audible “Alarm,”
messages are shown on the LCD display when a misfeed
occurs, paper is empty, toner is needed or service is re-
quired.
Quantity display/selector: Makes up to 99 copies/prints.
The LCD displays the total number of copies selected
and counts down until all copies are made. Approxi-
mately three minutes after the last copy is made, the
quantity select display resets to “1” and all selected fea-
tures reset to their default settings (user-adjustable from
one to ten minutes in one-minute increments).
