ids were dark and consistent; however fine vertical and
horizontal lines were poorly reproduced when sur-
rounded by large solid areas. Reproduction of the half-
tone range was limited; lighter dot percentages did not
print and the higher dot percentages did not show much
separation and had a grainy appearance.
Print drivers: The Muratec MFX-1200 was tested with
PCL 5e and PCL 6 print drivers that support Windows
95, 98, 2000 and NT 4.0 operating systems. Installation
can be done in two ways. To install the MFX-1200 lo-
cally via a bidirectional Centronics parallel cable, us-
ers load the driver using the Windows “Add Printer”
Wizard, but will be unable to use the driver’s automatic
feature detection. If users install the driver(s) using the
setup utility on the CD-ROM, which also loads the Re-
mote Shuttle utility, the driver’s automatic feature de-
tection works (when locally connected). If the unit is
installed on a network, the setup utility must be used
and the Remote Shuttle utility will not work. The print
driver for Windows 95, 98, NT 4.0, and 2000 is well-
laid-out, easy to use and graphically depicts current fea-
tures or settings, such as paper size and orientation as
they are selected, though it lacks a paper supply gauge.
