8.1.2 Engine – Cranking on starting system

DANGER
Rotating and moving engine parts.
Risk of crushing, danger of parts of the body being caught or pulled in!
• Before barring the engine, make sure that there are no persons in the engine's danger zone.
• After finishing work on the engine, make sure that all safety devices are put back in place and all
tools are removed from the engine.
NOTICE
Contamination of components.
Risk of damage to component!
• Seal off components with suitable covers.
• Check components for special cleanliness prior to installation/assembly and clean if necessary.
Engine Control Unit without pro-
tective cover
1. Dry clean Engine Control Unit and connectors
thoroughly.
2. Press end of unlocking clip (1) on connec-
tor X3 (2) and pull up at the same time.
3. Unplug connector X3 (2) from engine gover-
nor.
4. Seal off socket and disconnected connector
with suitable covers.
5. Crank engine in unloaded condition: Press
START button.
6. Crank the engine until oil pressure is indicat-
ed.
7. Engine start is interrupted automatically after
the max. permissible time.
8. If necessary, repeat engine start after approx.
20 seconds. Leave a longer break after every
second attempt at starting to allow the start-
er to cool down.
9. Remove all covers.
10. Fit connector X3 (2) on engine governor and
close interlock (1).
