4.1 Putting the engine into operation after extended out-of-service
periods (>3 months)

Engine is stopped and starting disabled.

MTU Fluids and Lubricants Specifications (A001061/..) are available.
Putting into operation after long out-of-service periods (>3 months)

Connect appropriate equipment to fuel supply line to fill the system.

If engine is out of service for more than one year, change engine coolant
(→ Page 87). Change charge-air coolant (→ Page 97).
Coolant circuit
Check engine coolant level (→ Page 86); Check charge-air coolant level
(→ Page 96).
Coolant circuit
Preheat engine coolant with coolant preheating unit (if fitted).
Engine governor
Check plug-in connections (→ Page 119).
Engine control system
Switch on.
