3.10 Slopes
Driving up slopes
•
Only drive up a slope with all
adjustment options in the lowest
position and the legrests in the
lowest position.
•
Slopes with an angle of more
than 11° must not be taken
.
•
Always drive slowly and with
awareness on slopes.
•
Do not drive down slopes with
loose gravel or a sandy surface,
as one of the rear wheels might
slip
•
Avoid sudden and jerky
movements.
•
Avoid directional changes on
slopes.
•
Do not turn on slopes.
•
If you notice a strong decrease
in speed when driving up a
slope, take a less steep route.
•
Driving on a slope too long can
cause overheating.
Driving down slopes
•
If you must reverse down a
slope, make sure the speed
control is in the lowest position
and drive as slowly as possible
and with the utmost control.
•
It can be very dangerous to
reverse down a slope.
•
Prevent the wheelchair from
gaining too much speed.
•
When driving forward down a
slope with a FWD wheelchair we
always advise the optional TSD
(Telescopic Safety Device)
