5.3. BRAKING SYSTEM

Electromagnetic parking brake
The generator based braking system
The generator based braking system is the main braking system.
While braking, the driving motor is used as a generator. The electrical current thus pro-
duced is fed into the batteries (Charging).
Inversion of the driving direction
Should the generator based brake not be sufficient to bring the vehicle to a stop in the
preset deceleration the controller’s pole the driving motors in the opposite direction and
providing them with the power needed to stop the vehicle in the preset deceleration time.
Electromagnetic fixing brake system
At the moment when the electric motor comes to a stop, the electromagnetic disk brake
for blocking the drive is activated. The switch-on delay is adjustable in the controllers in
gradations of tenths of seconds.
Setting the brake action:
The settings of the brake parameters are presets via a programming device. Changing the
brake parameters may only be performed by authorised persons.
