Turning Animation On and Off

Animation provides smooth scrolling within and between text
fields, and it highlights menu selections and soft key choices.
When animation is turned off, the cursor jumps from field to
field, rather than moving between them. Some items do not
flash.

You can turn off animation to conserve battery life.
