Partial installation with ODU connected
The equipment details and radio license details may be entered using the
Installation Wizard before arriving at the installation site. This is easily
accomplished in a workshop or dispatch centre by attaching the ODU to the CMU
using a short IF cable. If available, use a remote mount kit and waveguide load to
prevent radiation of the microwave signal.
CAUTION
If the ODU waveguide interface is exposed, then take great care to press
the
Skip Alignment
button in Step 5 of the Installation Wizard. This will
prevent the ODU from transmitting. Do not proceed to antenna
alignment.
When the physical installation of the CMU and ODU is complete, start the
Installation Wizard, click through Steps 1 to 5 without changing configuration, and
start antenna alignment in the standard way.
Partial installation with ODU disconnected
The equipment details and radio license details may be entered using the
Installation Wizard with the ODU disconnected. The Installation Wizard does not
allow progress to antenna alignment.
If the ODU is disconnected, the CMU does not perform validity checking of the
radio license details against ODU capabilities.
When the physical installation of the CMU and ODU is complete, start the
Installation Wizard, click through Steps 1 to 5. When the Installation Wizard is run
with the ODU disconnected, the following differences are observed:
x
In Step 1: Equipment Configuration, the ODU Status attribute is in red with
the message “No Response” (
Figure 5-46
).
x
In Step 4: Confirm Installation Configuration, the ODU Type attribute has the
value “Not Present”.
x
Configuration is complete at Step 5 (
Figure 5-47
).
