GUIDANCE:
• The measure reading obtained directly from the eardrum ensures
the most accurate ear temperature.
• Measurements taken from the surrounding tissue of the ear canal
generate lower readings and may result in misdiagnosis.
• For an infant, it is best to have the child laying flat with their head
sideways so the ear is facing upwards.
• For an older child or adult, stand behind and to the side of the
patient. It is recommended that three temperatures are taken and
the highest one taken as the reading.
• Ensure the same ear is used for all readings.
CLEANING :
• To clean, wipe the end of the probe with an alcohol wipe.
• Never use abrasive cleaning agents and never immerse in water.
• After cleaning with alcohol, wait 5 minutes before taking next
measurement in order to allow thermometer to reach its operating
temperature.
WARNINGS :
• Warning! Never immerse thermometer in water.
• Do not use if damaged or broken.
• Never open the thermometer case.
• Protect thermometer from extreme temperatures, impact,
contamination and dust, direct sunlight, heat and cold.
• Earwax in the ear canal may cause a lower temperature reading.
• It is important to ensure the patient’s ear canal is clean.
• Remove batteries if thermometer is not being used for a
prolonged period of time.
• Do not allow children to use unsupervised; some parts are small
enough to be swallowed.
• Use of this thermometer is not intended as a substitute for
consultation with your physician.
