Connection to a computer
Turn the copyboard’s power on and connect the copyboard to the computer using the USB cable.
Note:
• Use a USB-IF certified shielded USB cable.
• When connecting for the first time, the USB driver must be installed on the computer.
• For Windows 98 or Windows Me, the operating system installation CD-ROM or floppy disc may
be required.
USB connections to a Windows 98 or Me computer
To use the copyboard with USB connections to a computer running on Windows 98 or Me, set up
the driver using the procedure described below.
Driver setup (Windows 98/Me)
1. Turn on the computer’s power and start up Windows.
2. Turn on the copyboard’s power and connect it to the computer using the USB cable.
3. When the “USB compatible device” or “New Hardware” is detected, click the “Next” button.
4. Select “Search for the best driver for your device. (Recommended)” (Windows 98), or “Specify
the location of the device (Advanced)” (Windows Me), then click the “Next” button.
5. Set the included CD-ROM in the CD-ROM drive. If the setup window appears, click the “x”
(close) button to close it.
6. Select only “Specify the location”, type “D (CD-ROM drive): \BF041USB” in the text box, then
click the “Next” button.
* Do not select “CD-ROM drive”, as doing so sometimes prevents the right USB driver from
being installed.
7. Once the driver is found, click the “Next” button.
8. Once installation of the USB compatible device’s driver is complete, click the “End” button.
* The operating system installation CD-ROM or floppy disc may be required.
USB connections to a Windows 2000 or XP computer
To use the copyboard with USB connections to a computer running on Windows 2000 or XP, set
up the driver using the procedure described below.
Driver setup (Windows 2000/XP)
1. Turn on the computer’s power and start up Windows.
* Log in with the account having the authority to change the system settings (administrator).
2. Turn on the copyboard’s power and connect it to the computer using the USB cable.
3. When the “New hardware wizard” starts, click the “Next” button.
4. When “BF041 S/W” is detected, select “Search for a suitable driver for my device (recommended)”
(Windows 2000), or “Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)” (Windows XP), then click
the “Next” button.
5. Set the included CD-ROM in the CD-ROM drive. If the setup window appears, click the “x”
(close) button to close it.
6. Select only “Specify a location where to search”, then click the “Next” button (Windows 2000), or
select only “include this location in the search” (Windows XP).
* Do not select “CD-ROM drive”, as doing so sometimes prevents the right USB driver from
being installed.
7. Type “D (CD-ROM drive): \BF041USB” in the text box, then click the “Next” button.
8. Once the driver is found, click the “Next” button.
9. Once installation of the USB compatible device’s driver is complete, click the “End” button.
