USING EXPRESS CARD
Your Notebook PC has a Type II Express card slot, allows you to insert Express card.
Express Card technology is also developed by the PCMCIA, designed to deliver high-
performance, modular expansion at a lower cost and in a smaller form factor. It sup-
ports both PCI Express and USB 2.0 connectivity through the Express Card slot.
Express card format
There are two standard formats of Express Card modules: the ExpressCard/34 module
(34mm x 75 mm) and the ExpressCard/54 module (54mm x 75 mm). Both formats are
5mm thick.
Inserting an Express card:
When inserting, push the card in, label side up, as far as it will go.
Ejecting an Express card:
Stop using the card, click on the ‘Safely Remove Devices’ icon in the task bar, When the
OS informs you the device is now able to be removed safety, press the eject button and
the card will be automatically ejected.
Update internal components
Your Notebook PC can be upgraded by replacing the CPU or adding more memory.
However, to avoid damage to the Notebook PC during the installation, please contact
your dealer for instructions. Do not replace any component by yourself.
Chapter 5 BIOS Utilities
This chapter is about the Notebook PC’s builtin software. Your Notebook PC comes with
built-in BIOS (Basic Input Output System) which is an essential set of software routines
stored on a chip in your Notebook PC. These routines serve to prepare your Notebook PC’s
hardware for your chosen operating system and provide an interface between the two. The
BIOS includes the POST (Power On Self Test) and the Setup Utility. The POST performs diag-
nostic procedures at startup, the Setup Utility allows you to confi gure your Notebook PC.
USING SETUP UTILITY
The Setup Utility program sets the system confi guration and manages basic features
and subsystems (e.g. port confi guration and power management). The settings are
stored in nonvolatile CMOS RAM which means that the settings are saved even when
the Notebook PC is turned off .
Entering Setup
Note The pictures in this chapter are only for reference. Actual displays may diff er
depending on versions of Setup Utility. The Setup Utility program have been updat-
ed since this book was published. Please follow the actual display you see on your
Notebook PC. Confi guration options set within the operating system may override con-
fi guration options specifi ed in the Setup Utility. To enter the Setup Utility, turn on the
Notebook PC and press F2 when you see the prompt ‘F2 : enter System Confi guration
Utility’. The prompt is usually visible for a few seconds after you turn on the system, so
you should act quickly. If the Notebook PC is already on, reboot and then hold down F2
when you see the prompt. The Setup Utility’s main menu will appear immediately.
