3. Selecting an inst allation site & Accessories
•S elect a sit e w ith sturd y fixed surface suf fic ient ly dura ble against the wei ght of unit.
•B efore i nst alling unit, the r outing to carry in un it to the inst allation site s hould b e

•S elect a sit e where the uni t is n ot affected b y ent ering air .
•S elect a sit e where the f low of s upply and retu rn air is n ot blocked .
•S elect a sit e where re frigera nt pipi ng can easily be led to th e ou tside.
•S elect a sit e which allows the supply air to be di strib uted ful ly in roo m.
•D o n ot in stall unit at a site wit h oil splashing or st eam in much quanti ty.
•D o n ot in stall unit at a site whe re co mbustible gas may gener ate, fl ow in , stagn ate
or leak.
•D o not i nst all unit at a site where equipment genera tin g high f requency waves ( a
high frequ ency wave weld er for exa mple) is p rovided.
•D o not inst all unit at a site whe re fi re detecto r is lo cated a t the suppl y air sid e. (Fire
detecto r may operat e errone ously due t o t he heat ed air suppl ied during heatin g
operati on.)

•A void place s wher e sulphur -based or ot her sprays are fr equent ly u se d.
•W hen sp ecial chemical prod uct may scat te r aro und such as site che mica l pla nts
and hospit als, full invest igation is re quired bef ore inst alling unit . (T he plast ic
compone nts may be da maged de pending on t he chemical prod uct applied. )
•I f th e un it is ru n fo r lon g h ours when the a ir above th e ceiling is at high te mperatu re/
high hu midity (du e point above 26 °C [7 9 °F ]), due cond ensation may be produ ced
in the indoo r unit. Wh en operati ng the unit s in t his condit ion, add in sulat ion mat erial
(10-20 mm [ 13/32 t o 13/1 6 in]) t o the en tire surf ace of th e indoor un it to a vo id du e
conden satio n.
3.1 . Inst all th e indoor unit o n a ceilin g str ong enough
to sus tain its we igh t
Warni ng :
The unit must be secure ly in stal led o n a stru cture that c an susta in i ts we ight. If
the unit is mounted on an u nst able structure, it may fall do wn causing inju ries.
3.2 . Secu ring inst allat ion and s ervic e spac e
Secu re enoug h access space t o allow f or the maintena nce, inspect ion, and
replacemen t of t he moto r, fan , d rain pump, hea t excha nger, an d elect ric bo x in on e
of the follo wing ways.
Select an inst allatio n sit e for the ind oor unit so that its maintena nce access sp ace wil l
not be obst ructed by beams or oth er obje cts .
(1)When a space o f 300 mm [11 -13/16 in] o r more is available b elow t he uni t
between the unit and the ceiling (Fig . 3-2-1)
•C reat e access door 1 and 2 (450 × 450 mm [17- 3/4 × 17-3/4 in] each) as shown
in Fig. 3-2-2. (A ccess door 2 i s not require d if e nough sp ace is available b elow
the un it for a maint enance wor ke r t o work in.)
(2)When a sp ace of less t han 300 mm [ 11-13 /16 in] is available bel ow the uni t
between the un it and th e ceiling (A t least 20 mm [ 13/16 in] of sp ace should be lef t
below the unit as sho wn in Fig . 3-2- 3.)

counter measures against ear thquakes.
*U se M10 for han ging bolts and ant i-quake su pportin g me mbers (field suppl y).
1 Reinfo rcing t he ceiling with a ddition al members ( edge bea m, et c.) must be
required to ke ep the ceiling at level and t o p revent the ceil ing from vibrat ions.
2 Cut an d remove the cei ling members.
3 Reinfo rce the ce iling members, and add ot her members fo r fixing th e ceil ing
boards.

5. Installing the unit
5.1 . Hanging t he unit b ody

Bring the i ndoor uni t to an i nstallation site as it i s pack ed.
 To hang the indoor unit, use a lifting mach ine to lift and pass t hrough the
hanging bol ts.

bolt s

Ensure that the ha ng ing bolt nuts ar e tig htened to fix the ha nging bolts .
 To ensur e that drai n is discha rged, be sur e to hang the unit at le vel usi ng a
level .
Caution:
Insta ll the unit i n horizontal posi tion. I f t he side w ith dr ain port i s i nst alled
higher , wat er leak age m ay be caused.
