Cooking Tips

The following tips will help you to prepare food that is moist and succulent.
Before cooking coat the plate with a liberal coating of cooking oil, which will assist to stop food sticking.
The appliance must be warmed up before use, light the burners and allow them to operate on high for 3 – 5
minutes.
When cooking meat resist the urge to continually turn it over. For moist juicy meat, turn it once only during
cooking. Juices rise to the top of meat during cooking and then settle. Each time meat is turned juices are lost and
the meat becomes drier.

After Cooking

To turn the appliance off, turn off the gas supply at the cylinder first, and allow the burners to extinguish by
exhausting the remaining gas supply. Once the flames have extinguished, turn the appliance controls to ‘OFF’.
While the hotplate and grill are still hot, using a long handled brush and scraper, remove any remaining food
residue and wipe any excess fat from the cooking surfaces, then coat with fresh cooking oil for continued
protection against corrosion.

The appliance will look better and last longer if it is kept clean.
You should check the burners periodically for any sort of blockage. To do this remove each burner individually and
inspect them. Look for any blockages to the flame ports and inside the burner. If any flame ports are blocked, use a
wire brush to unblock them. If there is a blockage inside the burner, use a stiff wire or pipe cleaner to unblock it.
A sign that a blockage is inside the burner is the burner flashing back regularly, if this is occurring, remove the
burner and inspect it for a blockage.

caustic cleaner as it will irreparably damage the appliances coating.
The grease tray should be emptied regularly. Never touch the grease tray when hot, always allow it to cool
