Gas Connections
All gas connections must be tested before each use for leaks using a soapy water solution. With the gas cylinder
turned on and the appliance controls off, sponge soapy water onto the gas connection and look for a stream of
bubbles. A stream of bubbles indicates a leak which must be sealed before the appliance is used. NEVER use a
naked flame to test for gas leaks.
Connections at the gas cylinder and appliance must be tested.
Pre lighting Checks
1. After testing for leaks and being sure that all connections are gas tight, ensure the appliance controls and gas
cylinder are turned off.
2. Make sure there is sufficient gas in the gas cylinder.
3. Ensure the burner is correctly located on the gas control.
4. Remove the lid.

manual Ignition
With the lid removed, place a lit match or long stem gas lighter through the hole in the side of the appliance.
Ensure your hand remains away from the burner when doing this. Turn the control knob nearest the side you are
working from ‘OFF’ to the ‘HIGH’ position. The burner should light.
Automatic Ignition
With the lid open/removed, rotate the desired control from the ‘OFF’ position to the ‘HIGH’ position and hold it
there until you hear the burner light. If it fails to light, return the control to the ‘OFF’ position and try again. It is best
to perform this in a slow deliberate way rather than quick and sudden. If after 5 attempts the burner has not lit, turn
off all controls and allow it to rest for 5 minutes to let any accumulated gas to disperse.
Note that the ignition works by shooting a flame out of the control along the side of the burner. To rotate the
control from ‘OFF’ to ‘HIGH’ you must first depress and hold the control knob down while you rotate it from ‘OFF’.
Curing the Cooking Surfaces
During manufacture the Cooking Surfaces was coated with a non-toxic paint to protect it from corrosion during
storage and transport. This coating will come completely off in time. However the Cooking Surfaces must be
cured to assist with food not sticking to it. To do this, coat the Cooking Surfaces in a liberal coating of inexpensive
cooking oil. Turn all burners to ‘LOW’ and maintain this for 30 minutes (some paint may start to come off during
this process). Turn the appliance off and allow it to cool. Clean the Cooking Surfaces and the curing process is
complete. This only needs to be done once when the appliance is new and after the cooking surfaces have been
washed as washing removes the oil from the surfaces.
