4.3.3 CRYSTAL OSCILLATOR (A3A1)
The oscillator is capable of receiving an external input of 5 MHz or 10 MHz. The oscillator
detects the external input frequency. If the external input signal frequency is 10 MHz, the
external signal will be directed to the output. If the external signal frequency is 5 MHz, the
external signal will be frequency doubled, resulting in a 10 MHz signal, which will be directed to
the output.
The oscillator operates as an automatic reference selection switch in a SPDT configuration.
The oscillator switches to the internal 10 MHz oscillator if the external input signal is below a
threshold level of +1 dBm nominal. The internal oscillator is turned off if the unit's output is
switched to the external input signal.
