Intensive use of the PrestoCHILL means a use that involves the possibility of executing at least 5
consecutive freezing cycles.
Non-intensive use means a use in which each freezing cycle is spaced out by at least 15 minutes of
inactivity.
The freezing times in the table are indicative and can vary according to the conditions of
the laboratory and of the embedding medium used.
Milestone recommends using Milestone Cryoembedding Compound (MCC).

B.2. Freezing time changes
The ideal freezing time depends on the size of the mould used but also on the type of frozen tissue.
In case of delicate specimens which are cut in cryostat at temperatures equal to or greater than -20°C, the
freezing time can be reduced to halve the time suggested in the above table, so as to have a less hard block
and better suited to the cut.
In case of fatty tissues we recommend extending the freezing time to double the freezing time suggested in
the above table, so as to have a harder block that helps to cut the adipose tissue.
