MANDATORY SAFETY SHUTDOWN PROCEDURE
BEFORE unclogging, cleaning, adjusting, lubricating or servicing the unit:
1. Disengage the tractor PTO.
2. Shut off the tractor engine, remove the ignition key and take it with you.
3. Wait for all movement to stop.
4. Remove the Telescoping PTO Drive and ALL power connections from the tractor.
ONLY when you have taken these precautions can you be sure it is safe to proceed.
Failure to follow the above procedure could lead to death or serious bodily injury.
Beater Overload
In the event the beater drive becomes overloaded (such as with a clog), the clutch on the rear drive assembly will
automatically disengage, causing loss of power to the beaters and an audible clattering noise.
If this happens, perform the following:
1. Immediately stop hydraulic flow to the apron. Disengage the PTO and allow it to coast to a complete
stop.
2. Operate the apron in reverse to clear material from beaters, then briefly run apron in forward to
remove chain slack at the rear of the spreader.
3. AT IDLE, re-engage the tractor PTO and allow the beaters to run freely. Increase RPM, restart
hydraulic flow to the apron, and resume operation.
4. If the clutch will not re-engage, then the beaters are still over-loaded or plugged. It may be necessary
to manually remove the cause of the overload
. PERFORM SAFETY SHUTDOWN PROCEDURE! ! A
foreign object such as a rock may be found to be the cause of overload. Once the clog has been
cleared, return to step 3.
