Use of an External Safety Device (Optional)
With the aid of an external safety device, the current status of the system can be made
clearly visible with coloured signal lamps and the generation of HV can be interrupted or
locked with an EMERGENCY OFF switch and key switch (norm-compliant signalling and
EMERGENCY OFF according to DIN EN 50191 / VDE 0104).
The external safety device must be connected to the socket
that has been provided
for this purpose.
In the event that no external safety device is used, the corresponding dummy plug must
be screwed on to the socket.
The following figure shows the optional external safety device:
Part Description
Green signal light
Lights up when the system is switched on but is not in high voltage operation.
Red signal light
Lights up as soon as high voltage can be generated. All discharge and
earthing devices are open and the test object must be treated as live.
“HV interlock” key switch
High voltage unlocked
High voltage locked
In the locked state, the key can be removed and the system can thus be
protected against unauthorised high-voltage operation.
