Schober Test
-
Purpose: Operate Heterophoria test in a way of Schober during
subjective test.
-
Chart: Schober chart
-
Auxiliary Lens: Red filter (for right eye), Green filter (for left eye),
Rotary prism (for binocular)
-
Objective: The cross seen with the right eye must be in the center
of the circle seen with the left eye.
-
Operation sequence
1.
Ask the patient, “Do the red cross locate in the circle?” It the
answer is ‘Yes’, there is no Heterophoria. If the answer is “No”,
it is Heterophoria so go on to next test.
2.
Question the patient as following;
“Is the cross on the left side or on the right side of the circle?”

On the left side: External Heterophoria, Turn the dial
counterclockwise (+ direction) to increase BI prism, until the
cross located in the center of circle.

On the right side: Internal Heterophoria, Turn the dail
clockwise (- direction) to increase BO prism, until the cross
located in the center of circle.
3.
Question the patient as following;
“Is the cross on upside or bottom side of circle?”

On upside: Upside Heterophoria of left eye, press vertical
prism button and turn the dial clockwise (- direction) until the
cross located in the center of circle.

On bottom side: Upside Heterophoria of right eye, press
vertical prism button and turn the dial counterclockwise
(+direction) until the cross located in the center of circle.
4.
After the test, press [OK] button to save the result, or press
[CANCEL] button to delete the result.
