To adjust the chain, the use of 10 mm and 13 mm spanners are required.
1.
First remove the bottom cover, using the first 2 thumbscrews to gain access.
2.
Loosen the 2 x M6 bolts (A) a little, using 2 x 10 mm spanners.
3.
Then the M8 nyloc nut on the adjuster (B), which is located underneath, can be
tightened (The nut on the adjuster usually only has to be loosened if the chain
is being replaced). To adjust the chain, use a 13 mm spanner so that there is
no more than 10 - 20 mm sag measured halfway along the chain length.
4.
Finally, retighten the 2 x M6 bolts (A), using 2 x 10 mm spanners and refit the
bottom cover, using the 2 thumbscrews.
5.5.2 Blade replacement
If blades become blunt or corroded or are failing to cut the twine cleanly, then they must
be replaced. There are 4 blades on the twine feeder unit, 2 for the twine pre-cut after
threading and 2 to cut the twine after it has been applied to the bale.
Blade replacement should be carried out in the following way:
1.
Use 10 mm spanners to open the M6 bolts.
2.
Only loosen the bolts enough to remove the blades.
3.
Replace the existing blades with new ones (CKN00011).
4.
Tighten the M6 bolts wtih 10 mm spanners.
WARNING: Ensure the tractor is shut down
Ensure that the tractor engine has been shut down, the key removed
and the brakes applied before carrying out the following procedure.
WARNING: Always wear protective clothing and gloves
Always wear suitable protective clothing and gloves when replacing
blades or handling sharp objects. A set of plastic pincers or forceps can
be useful.
