21.
Using a grease gun or brush, apply grease to the inside
of tele 3 (4) in the areas where the tele 4 rear wear pads
will touch upon assembly.
22.
Align tele 3 (4) and tele 4 (5) with each other.
23.
Attach the grease hose (135) and related parts (79, 80,
77, 78) to each rear top wear pad (127), then install the
wear pad/grease hose assembly into the attaching
bracket on each side of tele 4 (5) (see Figure 4-33).
NOTE:
Do not allow the wear pad (127) to hang from the
grease hose, as the threads of the wear pad can be
damaged. If wear pad threads are damaged,
replace the wear pad; do not try to repair with
thread tape.
24.
Apply multipurpose grease to all wear pads and contact
surfaces.
25.
Partially insert tele 4 (5) into tele 3 (4).
26.
Use the shims (70) to adjust the tele 4 rear wear pad
assemblies (128, 134) such that the wear pads are
within 2 mm (0.08 in) of the sides and the bottom of tele
3. An equal number of shims should be used on each
side.
27.
Insert tele 4 (5) into tele 3 (4) until the loops in the tele 4
extend cables (109, 110) are close to the tip of tele 3 (4)
(see Figure 4-34).
.
28.
Using the shaft (104) and six capscrews (105), mount
the rear sheave (107) to the inside of tele 3 (4) (left and
right sides) using the rear set of mounting holes (see
Figure 4-34); ensure the rectangular tab on the shaft
(104) slides into the groove in tele 3 (4).
29.
Working at the rear of tele 3 (4), pull the tele 4 extend
cables (109) until they seat into the sheaves (107).
30.
Install the rear guard weldment (111) (left and right
sides) over the tele 4 extend cable (109), where the
cable wraps around the sheave (107), and secure with
the capscrew (113) (see Figure 4-35).
31.
Using the shaft (104) and six capscrews (105), mount
the front sheave (108) to the inside of tele 3 (4) (left and
right sides) (see Figure 4-34); ensure the rectangular tab
on the shaft (104) slides into the groove in tele 3 (4).
32.
Working at the rear of tele 3 (4), pull the tele 4 forward
extend cables (110) until they seat into the front sheaves
(108).
33.
Install the front guard weldment (112) (left and right
sides) over the tele 4 extend cable (110), where the
cable wraps around the sheave (108), and secure with
the capscrew (113).
34.
Install the grease fitting (106) into each of the four shafts
(104). Add grease until the grease extrudes through the
sheaves.
35.
Route the tele 4 extend cables (109, 110) through the
slotted holes in the rear of tele 3 (4), ensuring the 109
cables and 110 cables are oriented as shown in
Figure 4-36.
