6.1 GENERAL
This section provides the current empty weight and describes the procedure for establishing the
empty weight and moment of the aircraft. Procedures for calculating the weight and moment for
various operations are also provided.
Each item of fixed standard equipment fitted to the aircraft when originally delivered from the
factory is indicated in the equipment list. These items are all included in the empty weight of the
aircraft as delivered. Any subsequent changes to the equipment fit must be recorded and the
empty weight and moment data amended as required by the appropriate regulations applicable
in the particular country of registration.
It is the responsibility of the pilot to ensure that the aircraft is loaded correctly.
6.2 AIRCRAFT WEIGHT
6.2.1 Aircraft Weighing Procedures
1. Preparation
(a) Drain all fuel from the aircraft using the fuel drain points as required to ensure that
all the
fuel
is removed, including that in the sump tank and fuel strainer bowls.
(b) Service engine oil as required to obtain a normal full indication (12 US quarts)
(c) Move both front seats to central position
(d) Raise flaps to the fully retracted position.
(e) Place all control surfaces in their neutral positions (except for elevators which may be left
in their relaxed or full down position).
(f)
Ensure that any equipment, loose items etc. that are not to be considered part of the
aircraft empty weight are removed. This includes the co-pilot seat and seats in rows 2, 3,
and 4, and any freight netting.
