Board Assembly Assistance

Thanks for your recent Cabrinha board purchase. Follow these step by step instructions to
make your assembly a snap. You will need a few simple tools to get started: 1/ small phillips
screwdriver, 2/ large phillips screwdriver, and 3/ small flathead screwdriver (for certain fins).
After unpacking your board and the Cabrinha components pack (see Fig. 1), ensure that
you have the correct parts necessary to assemble your board and that you leave out
unecessary screws. You should have 1 board, 2 foot plates, 1 grab handle, 4 fins, 2 foot
straps, 4 plastic foot strap washers, 8 fat head fin screws (#10 24 x 9/16"), 4 foot strap screws
(1/4" 20 x 3/4"), and 2 flat head grab handle screws (1/4" 20 x 5/8").
Step 2: Insert one of the foot strap screws into the foot strap washer and then through the foot
strap. Don't forget to flip the foot strap logo side down and push the screw through the foot
strap cover on the bottom. Repeat this step for both sides of each foot strap (see Fig. 2).
Step 3: Insert the grab handle scerws into the grab handle and put aside (see Fig. 3).
Step 4: If asembling with white fins, you may proceed to the next step. If assembling with
black fins, use a flathead screwdrive to loosen and remove the two screws in each fin. These
flathead screws are not necessary for the assembly of the board (see Fig. 4).
Step 5: Position the board so that the heal side of the board is closest to you. With the "right"
foot plate (see Fig. 5), align it over the board inserts in either the inboard or outboard stance.
Note that it is wise to use the middle foot plate notches for assembly to start, then make
adjustments, if necessary, once you have ridden the board. The foot plate will angle slightly
up to the right when the board and plate are in the correct position. Note in Fig. 5 that only the
outboard or inboard inserts should be used. Assembly in another configuartion automatically
voids the warranty on the foot plates and can lead to broken foot plates.
Step 6: Determine which strap is the "right" strap before proceeding. Generally, most riders
prefer the fat part of the strap on the instep of the foot, but a minority of riders prefer the
opposite orientation of the strap. If using the adjustable foot straps (not shown) it helps
tremendously to undo all the velcro and make the strap as wide as possible before installation.
Note also that side of the strap with the metal ring for the velcro adjustment should be
mounted after the other side. Loosely attach the foot strap on one side of the foot plate, turned
180 degrees (see Fig. 6).
Step 7: Turn the footstrap 180 degrees to ready for the second screw installment. The strap
should still be loose and should rotate easy. To make the second side installment easier, push
the footplate hard towards the loosely installed screw and then fully tighten down the screw.
While tightening, try to keep the unsecured side of the plate centered over the insert so that
the second screw installment will be pre-aligned once the first screw is tightened (see Fig. 7).
Step 1: Check all the inserts on the board to ensure they are free from any metal filings
before any installation. If necessary, use a foot strap screw to check any of the inserts that
you plan to use during installation.
Step 8: Install the second foot strap screw. It helps to have the board on the ground and to be
postioned to put force straight down on the screw. Be sure that the insert is located roughly in
the middle of the foot plate notch to ensure a smooth installment (see Figs. 7 + 8).
