11.2 Ignition Switch
An illuminator ring is provided on the face of the ignition switch to
help in locating the ignition switch at night. The ring will illuminate
the moment the driver door is opened and will remain glowing till
the driver door is closed.

The different positions of the ignition switch are;
LOCK
— This is the ignition and steering lock position. The vehicle
circuits and engine are completely switched OFF. The steering
wheel is also locked and the key can be removed from the ignition
only in this position.
OFF
— The steering is unlocked and can be rotated. In this position
all electrical circuits are enabled. Use this mode when you want to
listen to music, etc., with the engine temporarily switched OFF.
IGN
— All electrical circuits are enabled. Some of the warning or
information lamps illuminate in this position. While some of the
lamps will go out after a few seconds, some will continue to remain
ON till the engine is started. When the vehicle is being driven, the
ignition switch remains in the IGN position.
Select the ignition ON position when the vehicle is being towed.
Do not leave the ignition ON for long when the engine is OFF.
This could lead to battery drain and ignition switch damage.
START
— This position is to start the engine by cranking the starter
motor. This is a momentary position. When the key is turned to the
start position, the starter cranks the engine. Once the engine is
running, release the key, and the key reverts back to the IGN
position and the starter motor disengages from the engine.
Do not continue cranking after the engine has started. This will
lead to damage of the starter and other engine components.
