MAINTENANCE AND LUBRICATION 197
Cab Interior
•
For cleaning vinyl upholstery and lining: wipe with a soft cloth, using a good commercial
upholstery cleaner. Do not use acetone, lacquer thinner, etc.
•
For cleaning fabric upholstery: use an upholstery shampoo specially designed for this
purpose. Follow the directions on the manufacturer’s label.
Waxing
•
Always use waxes and polishes that are non-abrasive. Do not use waxes or polishes
that contain silicone.
•
When water does not form small drops and roll off clean paint, apply a coat of good
hard wax.
•
Even if a liquid wax solution is used on a regular basis, it is advisable to protect the
finish with a hard wax at least twice a year.
•
Your truck may have a basecoat plus clearcoat. Use a basecoat/clearcoat wax on your
paint finish.
Polishing
Polish your truck only if the paint has lost its shine and the gloss cannot be brought back
with wax. It is recommended to have a professional polish your truck to avoid swirl marks
or damage to the painted surface.
Winter Warnings
•
If you rinse your vehicle with a hose, avoid direct water into lock cylinders. You may
experience freezing of the lock mechanism.
•
Test brakes after each vehicle wash. Moisture and ice on brakes can affect braking
efficiency.
A well kept vehicle can look like new after many years of service. Proper care and
maintenance can help you keep your vehicle’s beauty and value. You can get an assortment
of MACK Trucks approved cleaning products from your local MACK dealer.
