Thank you for buying a LUMii® DIGITA Professional horticultural
lighting ballast. LUMii® ballasts are designed to give you a
consistent light supply for your plants. Designed to run on
220V-240V 50Hz mains supply.
LUMii® DIGITA Ballasts are supplied as a stand alone ballast with flying IEC lead enabling you to add any
reflector fitted with a universal IEC socket. Simply add a reflector and lamp of the same wattage of the ballast
to start growing. Please note for the 1000w the core of your chosen reflector cable needs to be over 1.2mm
2
so
as to not overheat.
This unit has been manufactured to high quality standards and meets all applicable EC
directives on Safety and EMC Emissions. The design includes a timed ignition circuit that helps protect the unit
from overload when lamps fail.
TIP: For best growing results always change lamps after
maximum 9 months of use.
Setting Up Your Unit
The unit is designed to operate in a dry environment only, do not use in atmospheric conditions that exceed
the following: Max Ambient Temperature: 70C, Min Ambient Temperature: -10C, Max Humidity RH: 85%
When you purchase this unit it is easy to set up:
1. Unpack your LUMii® Digita ballast, attach the rubber feet to the base of the unit. Plug the
power cord into the socket marked ‘INPUT’.
2. Set the dimmer knob at 100% power for your chosen lamp first. Once the unit has warmed
up (after 10 to 15 mins) you can adjust the power.
3. Hang your selected reflector in your chosen location. Find a suitable location for your
LUMii ® ballast box, Although the Digita is fully enclosed we recommend that it should NOT
be located in any position where it will come into contact with water or nutrients.
4. Carefully screw a compatible LUMii® lamp into the Reflector, ensuring full contact. Ensure amp Wattage
matches LUMii
®
ballast wattage. Always have dry hands when locating the lamp. We recommend handling
the lamp with a cloth.
5. Plug the LUMii® ballast into a timer unit. Switch on. If unit fails to ignite lamp, switch off at mains, remove
lamp and repeat 2 to 3 above. Otherwise contact your retailer.
Please note you will know when the ballast is on as you will notice a slight hum, it can take up to 10 minutes to
ignite a lamp depending on the type and age of lamp you are using.
Always use this unit in conjunction with a RCD - Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker. Do not switch on unit for 10-15
minutes if you have disconnected the power supply for any reason, this eliminates any unnecessary wear on
the components.
We recommend using a 1000w Lamp for 1000w settings, 600w lamp for 600w dimmer settings, a 400w lamp for
400w dimmer settings and a 250w lamp for 250w dimmer settings. This will give the best spectral output and
be more efficient than simply dimming a 600w lamp down to 400w.
Never boost a lower wattage lamp to a higher lamp setting.
Do not set a 600w lamp to 1000w settings. Do not set a 400w lamp to 600w settings. Do not set a 250w
lamp to 400w settings.
For best results, we recommend the LUMii® Horticultural HPS SunBlaster lamp with an improved
blue spectrum.
Rectification – A Warning.
Replace lamps regularly every 9 months with a quality brand such as LUMii®, PowerPlant® or Philips. The
use of lamps at the end of their serviceable life can cause rectification in the ballast circuit. This has been
known to cause a 'burn out' within the ballast box or at any connection between the reflector and ballast
unit. In the unusual case of a 'burn out', to be eligible for a warranty replacement ballast, you must return
the lamp in use as well as the ballast unit & reflector to the retailer. Where rectification is identified as the
cause of any problem, replacing the ballast is at the discretion of the retailer and manufacturer.
