APS Command
Default:
NoAction
Range: N/A
Format: Predefined
Allows the system software to perform switchover of
active status between the module pair automatically, as
needed.
Typically, the following APS switch-over commands
are used for testing and maintenance activities.
ManualSwitchTo-
WorkPort
Switches the active status from the protection module
to the working module (lowest priority command).
ManualSwitchTo-
ProtPort
Switches the active status from the working module to
the protection module (lowest priority command).
ForcedSwitchTo-
WorkPort
Switches the active status from the protection module
to the working module (higher priority command).
ForcedSwitchTo-
ProtPort
Switches the active status from the working module to
the protection module (higher priority command).
LockoutProtection
Regardless of whether the working module has failed,
prevents the switchover of active status from the work-

APS Mode
Default:
Unidirec-
tional
Range: N/A
Format: Predefined
Specifies whether traffic flow is one-way or two-way.
Prior to entering bidirectional mode from unidirec-
tional mode, you should clear outstanding manual
commands and line status. Otherwise you may have to
manually synchronize the two nodes.
Unidirectional
APS switchover is governed by conditions on which-
ever end of the termination is set to unidirectional in
the send direction.
Bidirectional
APS switchover is governed by both near-end and far-
end conditions. The active (or non-standby) port of the
termination must remain in synchronization with the
far-end active (or non-standby) port for successful
switchover to occur.
