The FT-2000 OC-48 Lightwave System provides automatic version recognition of
all the hardware and software installed. The FT-2000 OC-48 Lightwave System is
able to report the type and version of the circuit pack that is installed in each slot.

on the circuit pack and are accessible by the System Controller circuit pack. The
equipment catalog item (ECI) version identification and apparatus code for each
circuit pack is also provided. Refer to the

The FT-2000 OC-48 Lightwave System provides a security function to protect
against unauthorized access to the CIT functions (for example, provisioning). The
security function limits access to the FT-2000 OC-48 Lightwave System to
legitimate users only. Security is provided using a four tier approach that provides
maximum flexibility and control. The four tiers are:

User login security

Network element login security
■
Password aging (available in Release 4.1 and later releases).
