CAUTION:
The heat sinks and CPUs might be very hot. Turn off the server and wait several minutes to let the
server cool before removing the server cover.
To replace the system board, do the following:
1. Prepare your server. See “Preparing your server and removing the server cover” on page 41.
2. Lay the server on its side for easier operation.
3. To access the system board, do the following in order:
a. “Removing the memory module” on page 70
b. “Removing a PCIe card” on page 71
c. “Removing the coin-cell battery” on page 88
d. “For service technician only: replacing the heat sink and fan assembly” on page 89
Note:
Place the heat sink and fan assembly on its side so that the thermal grease on the bottom of it
does not get in contact with anything.
4. Record the cable routing and cable connections. Then disconnect all cables from the system board.
5. Remove the eight screws that secure the system board by following the numerical sequence as shown.
Then carefully lift the system board out of the chassis.
