6.4 Stage and Focus Controls
Focus drive menu
for Leica DM and DMI microscopes
The current Z position is shown in the information
fi eld.
The graphic in the middle of the control panel
fi eld is used for orientation. The current Z po-
sition is marked and shown as a number. If the
focus position and lower stop have been set, this
is also displayed.

Press the
button to travel directly to the focus position.
Press the
button to reach the lower stop. The Z drive contin-
ues only as long as the button is held depressed.
The process can be interrupted at any time to
prevent a collision of the objective and specimen
in case of an incorrectly set lower stop.
To set or clear the focus position or the lower
stop, select the corresponding position under
Set/Clear
, then press the
Set
or
Clear
key.
Press
to travel to the set or go to the top
stop when using an inverted stand.
The focus position and stops are stored by the
microscope and retained from one session to the
next when power is switched off.
Use
Coarse
and
Fine
to switch between coarse
and fi ne focusing at the stand handwheel or the
focus knob of the Smartmove as applicable.
