Reinstalling the microtome
The microtome must be completely
dry before reinstallation.
Humidity inside the microtome will
condense and freeze in the cold cry-
ostat and thus may cause malfunc-
tions or damage.
•
Place the microtome into the cryochamber
slightly left from the original position. Make
sure the specimen head is in the lowest
position.
•
Lubricate the surface of the plastic cou-
pling

with a drop of cryostat oil.
•
Mount plastic coupling

on shaft

•
Use your right hand to bring the handwheel
handle in the lowest position and keep the
handle in place.
•
Push the microtome to the right with your
left hand and, if necessary for proper align-
ment of the parts, slightly turn the hand-
wheel back and forth until coupling

•
Tighten screws

•
Reconnect the coarse feed motor plug

and the temperature sensor

(ensure that
temperature sensor (

) fits against the cop-
per spring with the polished bush).
•
Put shelves, heat extractor, section waste
tray, brush shelf and knife holder back into
cryochamber.
•
Reinstall sliding window.
•
The instrument is ready to be switched
back on.
