9.12 Utilizing the Logic In or Logic Out Feature
The 831C can receive input from an external device using the Logic In or Logic Out feature,
which can initiate a variety of actions.

9.12.1 Utilizing the Logic In Feature
The Logic Input line receives a signal from an external device, which is usually connected
using the included I/O Interface cable (CBL170).

Step 1.
To select properties for this feature on the meter, press Tools

) until the Other page displays.
Step 2.
Select a signal trigger from the
Logic In
drop-down menu as shown in Figure 9-
9 .

A device connected to the 831C using the I/O Interface cable can be
activated by the following external triggers:
Run/Stop State
A measurement run or stop can be initiated when the Time History
(831C-ELA) option is installed and enabled on your meter.
Marker
With the Time History (831C-LOG) option installed and enabled for that
measurement, Marker #1 will be initiated for the Recording Time
indicated in the Setup, even if there is no sound recording. If sound
recording is enabled for Marker #1, a sound recording also occurs at this
time.
