OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE
Figure 4-6: Leveling from Side to Side
9650FH Gauge Wheels
1.
The front gauge wheels of the floating hitch cultivator
raise and lower with center and wing lift wheels
keeping the frames level during operation. The gauge
wheels will caster while making turns with the
cultivator.
2.
The gauge wheels should be set level with the
center frame and wings. Adjustment radius rod at
the front of the cultivators is used to level the
gauges wheels. To level the cultivator front-to-rear,
first level the center and wing lifts side-to-side. Raise
the cultivator and rephase the cylinders to make
sure the system has been purged of air, then lower
the cultivator until the sweeps are approximately 1”
above the ground.
NOTE
Initially the front radius rods are set to 21” centers
before final adjustment.
3.
Measure the distance from the top of the wing
frame to the top of the walking beam spindle. Lay a
straight edge across the top of the front two
center/wing frame shank tubes. Measure from the
straight edge to the top of the gauge wheel spindle.
This should be 1-1/2” shorter than the main lift
measurement from the top of the frame.
