SPECIFICATIONS

Laguna Water Gardening Pumps are the right choice when it comes
to circulating fresh water reliably and economically. They can be
used to generate powerful water streams in fountains, waterfalls,
hydroponic units, statuary, water lifts and more.
The motor unit and electrical connections are hermetically sealed
with inert epoxy to ensure safety and lasting operation under
extreme water conditions. Since they do not employ older technolo-
gies requiring oil cooling, they can never leak or contaminate the
area with coolant. They are designed to run continuously submerged
in fresh water.
Laguna Water Gardening Pumps are not recommended or
designed to transport corrosive or flammable compounds or
liquids with different properties than water.

Maximum water temperature must remain under 35˚C
Laguna pumps contain many technical innovations in design, safety
and utility. All Laguna pump motors are hermetically sealed with all
live electrical parts immersed in protective epoxy resin to provide
total insulation against water damage and electrical shock. The
motor is extremely compact, energy efficient and maintenance-free,
while at the same time producing a powerful continuous output flow.
Choosing the right output for the application
Laguna Water Gardening Pumps can be used in a wide variety of
applications, and their wide range of output flows at various heights
will accommodate almost every circumstance. What is most impor-
tant is to define the needs of the application and ensure the pump
will be adequate to the job. The factors that influence pump capaci-
ty include Head Height, hose and fitting resistance:

Head height:

Vertical distance between water surface and water dis-

charge.
Hose Resistance:

For every ten feet (3 m) of hose, add one foot (30

cm) to the head height.
Fitting Resistance:

For every elbow connector, add one foot (30 cm)

to the head height.

Determine the head height first, the vertical distance from water sur-

face to water outlet. To this, add the amount of hose needed to trans-
port the water from pump exhaust to the water outlet. When pipe
fittings are used to go around corners, the resistance to water flow
created by a 90

o

elbow is equivalent to adding one foot (30 cm) per unit.

If the installation requires a 90 cm (3 ft) lift from surface to output,
requires 3 m (10 ft) of hose and one elbow, then the actual head is
150 cm (5 ft).

INSTALLATION

Caution: Disconnect the plug of this and any other submerged
appliance before placing hands in water.

Important: Always use the largest bore hose possible.
Avoid sharp bends in the hose, gentle curves present less resistance
and water flow loss.
ATTACH INPUT/OUTPUT HOSES:
Laguna Water Gardening Pump

250: accepts a hose on the output only.

Laguna Water Gardening Pumps

500 and 1000: smooth hose adapters

on both input and output sides receive the hose directly. If
required, a hose clamp (optional) can be used to clamp the hose
on the adapter in a more permanent fashion. For ornamental
accessories, use the Stepdown Output Hose Adapter (1/2“, 13 mm)
Laguna Water Gardening Pumps

2000, 3000, 5000 and 7000: each

employs the exclusive Click~Fit coupling for both input and output.
The fitting is barbed to ensure a tight fit and superb connection
between hose and connector. If a hose clamp is desired, the
barbed configuration ensures there will be no loosening during the
pump’s operation. Once installed there is no need to remove the
hose from the fitting. The Click~Fit coupling snaps on and off with
the press of a thumb to make maintenance simple and quick. For
permanent connections directly to the pump, there are input and
output stems built into the Motor Cover that will accept a hose clamp.
Flow Control
The only unit with an adjustable flow control is the

Laguna Water

Gardening Pump 250. Adjust the slide bar on the Motor Cover to
increase or decrease flow.
