box. This function can be augmented by the use of flexible foam black material to form seals
between the box, the fence and the fence support pins.
B) SHAPER GUIDE FENCE SUPPORT - The shaper guide fence is used to guide the work piece
from the side which is facing the cutter. If the cut is such that the entire face of the work piece is cut
away, then the segment of the fence following the cutter will need to be advanced to the extent that
it will engage the newly cut surface of the work piece. This adjustment can be made on a scrap
piece.
C) SHAPER WORKPIECE HOLD-DOWN PUSHERS -The pushers are adjusted to push the work
piece down onto the table and in toward the guide fence. They work to make it unnecessary for the
hands to be in the area of the cutter; and as you will see, they assure a smoother cut.
22) HOLD-DOWN CLAMP - The clamp is an eccentric clamping device, which works on a pivot post
to clamp a work piece or anything else to the table. It is primarily used on the sliding table to clamp
saw or shaper work, but it can also be used on the table of the mortiser.
23) SHAPER TENONING PLATE - The shaper tenoning plate is fastened to the sliding table using
two (2) T-bolts fitted in the slot provided in the sliding table. Wing nuts are provided to tighten the T-
bolts under the table.
24) SWIVEL-LENGTH STOP - The swivel length stop is used in conjunction with the cut-off/miter
fence. It is engaged with a large knob-locking screw into a threaded steel-locking block, which is
inserted in the top groove in the miter fence. The swivel-length stop can be slid along the miter
fence to any position and, utilizing the cutting scale on the rear side of the miter fence, can predeter-
mine the length of the cut-off. The swivel-length stop may be swiveled around to the front of the
miter fence so that it is out of the way when not in use.
For that reason, it is possible to use more than one swivel-length stop on the same setup, making it
possible to cut at several lengths without making a setup for each cut. Additional stops can be
obtained from Laguna Tools.
