Connecting Your LaCie d2 SAFE Hard Drive
4.2. Connect the Interface Cable
Connect the power supply cable (chapter
4.1.
) and
turn on the LaCie d2 SAFE Hard Drive by flipping
the power switch to ON or AUTO (drive powers on/
hibernates automatically).
Connect the Hi-Speed USB 2.0 cable (

), FireWire
400 cable (
B
) or FireWire 800 cable (
C
) to the back
of the LaCie d2 SAFE Hard Drive (see Fig. 4.2.A).
Attach the other end of the interface cable to an
available USB port (

), FireWire 400 port (

) or
FireWire 800 port (

) on your computer, depending
on the type of cable you are using (see Fig. 4.2.B).

To achieve Hi-Speed
USB 2.0 transfer rates, the drive must be connect-
ed to a Hi-Speed USB 2.0 port on your computer.
Otherwise, you will be limited to USB 1.1 data
transfer rates.
