9.0 REAL TIME ANALYSER OPTION
The Real Time Analyser (RTA) option for the digEQ is a plug-in DSP module which
provides a filter based, 31 band analyser as defined in EN60651 for sound level
meters. An RTA based on filters rather than Fast-Fourier-Transform (FFT), as used in
the vast majority of analysers, offers a greater degree of accuracy and a faster
response. The RTA displays both peak and average levels, with averaging and peak
decay times being user adjustable. The range displayed on the screen and the
reference level are also user adjustable. Measured curves can be frozen and stored in
one of 45 nameable memories.
When using a microphone for measurements the analyser can be used in either
dBSPL (Sound Pressure Level) or dBu (relative) mode. In dBSPL mode the display is
fixed to the sensitivity of the measuring microphone whereas the dBu scale does not
require a calibrated mic and gives a relative reading.
Graphic EQ faders can be superimposed onto the analyser screen allowing real time
EQ adjustments to be made and viewed. The RTA input source is selectable from
Channel A or B, input or output, or from an external microphone. Microphone
calibration curves for 4 different types can be stored in named locations.
The RTA module includes a pink noise generator with a switched level, balanced
output. The noise generator can also produce two types of Click (burst of pink noise)
output.
