8.1 

Selecting the RS-232 or RS-485 Serial Port 

The 3-pin Serial terminal block can be used as either an RS-232 or as an RS-485 

port. 

To set the Serial port as an RS-232 port: 

 

Release the RS-232/RS-485 button on the rear panel. 

The Serial RS-232 LED lights  

To set the Serial port as an RS-485 port: 

 

Depress the RS-232/RS-485 button on the rear panel. 

The Serial RS-485 LED lights 

8.2 

Terminating the RS-485 Bus 

The devices at both ends of the RS-485 chain must be terminated; all other devices 

in the chain must be left unterminated. 

To terminate the RS-485 bus

 

Slide the RS-485 Term switch down
