4. Secure the Bath to the Framing
Secure the Bath to the Studs
NOTE:
If your bath is shipped with a liner, keep the liner in place until construction is complete. If a liner
is not available, place a clean drop cloth or similar material in the bottom of the bath.
NOTE:
The bath can be attached to the studs using attachment clips (provided) or large-head roofing nails.
Verify that the studs are within 1/8
″
(3 mm) of the bath at the recommended attachment clip or nail
locations. Shim if necessary.
Verify that the fastener heads will not interfere with installing the wall surrounds or finished wall
material.
To secure attachment clips to the studs:
Refer to the
″
Roughing-In
″
section for attachment clip locations.
Position the bottom lip of the attachment clip under the bath flange as shown in the illustration.
Slide the attachment clip into place between the center of the stud and the bath.
Bend the attachment clip tab over the bath flange with a pair of pliers.
Secure the clip with a large-head roofing nail or non-tapered flathead screw.
To secure large-head roofing nails to the studs:
IMPORTANT!
Install the large-head roofing nails directly above the bath flange at each stud location. Do
not nail or drill through the bath flange.
Install the nails so the nail heads will secure the bath flange without damaging it, and will not
interfere with installing the remaining wall material.
