Install the Pump Box (cont.)
Fit the pump box between the false wall and face wall. Locate the pump box to maximize
accessibility and so the pump inlet faces your planned suction line. The pump box must be within
36
″
(91.4cm) on either side of the tower. Check to ensure that the waterfall cables will reach the
pump. If they do not, move the pump box closer. Do not secure the pump box in place at this
time.
5. Connect the Waterfall
NOTE:
Do not use flexible tubing for this section. Do not add additional elbows or fittings between the
waterfall and the pump elbow and union assembly. If water does not completely drain from the system,
the resulting air pocket will prevent the pump from priming and the unit will not work.
Insert the O-ring and loosely hand-tighten the pump outlet elbow and nut to the pump so it faces
the waterfall.
Connect the pump outlet/elbow to the 1–1/4” x 1–1/4” x 1” PVC tee using the 1–1/4” x 6
″
PVC
tubing supplied. The tee opening must face up and is necessary to connect a pressure switch
attached to the heater.
Measure and cut a length of 1-1/4
″
I.D. rigid PVC tubing to connect the PVC tee to the waterfall.
Another 1-1/4
″
PVC pipe and a 1-1/4
″
x 1-1/4
″
PVC elbow may be needed to complete this
connection. Do not solvent weld the PVC connections at this time.
Use a level and measuring tape to ensure a minimum 1/4
″
(6mm) per foot (30.5cm) pitch toward
the pump.
CHECK POINT # 3.
•
The pump box is positioned within 36” (91.4cm) of the waterfall and is oriented toward the
suction (water intake) line.
•
The suction bracket assembly has been removed from the pump box.
•
The PVC tee is positioned between the pump outlet and the waterfall (necessary for proper
heater operation).
•
Rigid 1–1/4” I.D. PVC tubing is measured, cut and fit, but not solvent welded.
•
Minimum 1/4” (6mm) per foot (30.5cm) pitch from the waterfall mounting frame to the pump
outlet has been achieved.
